Overview
This website design project focuses on generating new customer leads and building brand awareness for a local event entertainment business.

Problem Space
Freelancer gig platforms are too expensive for client leads.
The original method of generating customer leads relied on third party contractor websites including Thumbtack and Bark. These websites implemented a pay-by-lead structure, posing a significant opportunity to improve and streamline the process for generating new leads, by advertising services on Google and Yelp with no cost per lead.

Solution
Design a website to generate leads at a lower cost.
In order to communicate crucial information about business services, pricing, and values, I designed a responsive website that streamlined the process to book event entertainment services enhanced brand awareness.
User Research
User Survey
To develop a deeper understanding for my user group’s event booking habits and needs, I surveyed 13 participants regarding their process for finding and booking event entertainment.

53%
of users reported needing to book event entertainment services 3-5 times per year
76%
of users reported that the average reviews and total price were the most important factors when making booking decisions
Competitive Analysis
I conducted a UX Competitive Analysis of 3 similar business websites to understand the competitive landscape. This revealed strengths and gaps in their UX, uncovering key opportunities to enhance the design and differentiate the brand in a crowded market.
Define
Building on insights from the user survey and competitive analysis, I transitioned to defining key user pain points and needs, developing a user persona and organizing ideas through an Affinity Diagram to inform the next steps of the design process.

User Persona
By crafting a user persona based on real data, I identified core pain points and motivations, allowing the design to align more closely with the needs and behaviors of the target audience.

Affinity Diagram
Sorting an affinity diagram helped distill user pain points and competitive features, organizing insights into clear themes to guide a user-centered design approach. By organizing information into 5 critical categories - Building Client Trust, Price, Services Offered, About Artist, and Booking Process - I identified what factors clients value most when making booking decisions.

Key Findings
Trust is Paramount
The "Building Client Trust" category has the most items, emphasizing the importance of social proof through customer reviews, testimonials, and galleries of past events and designs.
Comprehensive Service Information
Clients expect detailed information about services, packages, and even the products used, indicating a desire for thoroughness.
Streamlined Booking
The booking process should be clear, with information on availability, rescheduling, and serviced locations readily available.
Ideate
User Task Flows
These task flows address key user needs identified in earlier research and analysis stages, and illustrate streamlined paths for potential clients to access critical information and complete important actions.
Site Map
The task flows highlighted the importance of easy navigation to services, booking information, artist details, and reviews, while emphasizing transparency and trust-building elements.Building on these insights, the site map for Studio Lazuli was crafted to ensure a logical and user-friendly structure. The map reflects the priorities identified in the task flows and earlier research:
